Motorcycle rider dies after hitting side of car
DAVENPORT, Fla. (AP) — A Florida man died after crashing his motorcycle into a car at an intersection Thursday morning, authorities said.
Michael Jamieson, 74, died at the scene of the Davenport crash, the Ledger reported.
A car had stopped at a stop sign and began to move into the intersection when Jamieson’s Harley Davidson motorcycle slammed into the driver’s side, according to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office. Jamieson was ejected from the bike, landing on the roadway about 35 feet (10 meters) from the collision. Jamieson was not wearing a helmet.
The impact of the crash caused the car to run into an oncoming car, deputies said. The driver of the first car wasn’t injured, and the second’s car driver was treated and released at a local hospital, deputies said.
No charges or citations were immediately reported.
