4 women’s hockey players suspended at UMaine
ORONO, Maine (AP) — The University of Maine says four members of the women’s ice hockey team have been suspended.
Spokeswoman Margaret Nagle says they were suspended indefinitely “for violations of the student-athlete code of conduct.”
They are senior forward Cailey Hutchinson, senior defenseman Alyson Matteau, junior defenseman Brittany Kucera and sophomore defenseman Maggie Blair.
The Bangor Daily News reports the suspensions stem from two separate incidents.
Orono police arrested Blair Sunday on suspicion of operating under the influence of intoxicants. It wasn’t immediately known if she had a lawyer and contact information couldn’t be found for her. Hutchison, Matteau and Kucera were reportedly involved in an altercation at a restaurant and bar. They weren’t arrested. Messages were left for them.
The Black Bears will be short-handed Saturday when the Vermont Catamounts visit for the last regular-season game.
