Outdoor Ice Rink Open

WILMINGTON -- Wilmington’s temporary outdoor skating rink is officially open. The rink, located at Rotary Park right across from the public safety building on 1 Adelaide Street, is open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Hockey will not be permitted on the rink and rental skates will not be provided. Skaters who are 12 years old and younger should be accompanied by an adult. Alcohol, tobacco products and other drugs are prohibited from the rink. A full list of rules are posted on a sign near the rink.

“I’m just looking forward to having a good place that people feel comfortable skating,” said Jason Mainini, program coordinator in the town’s Recreation Department.


Lane closures in Bedford, Woburn

BEDFORD -- MassDOT announced overnight lane closures on Route 128 and Interstate 95 northbound and on Route 3 southbound in Bedford and Woburn. These temporary lane closures are scheduled through the morning of Wednesday, Dec. 12. There will be varying lane closures between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m., at which time lanes will be reopened.

* Monday, Dec. 10: Woburn, I-95/Route 128 southbound between Exit 35 and Exit 34.

* Tuesday, Dec. 11: Bedford, Route 3 southbound between Exit 27 and Exit 26.

Health insurance for small biz

WESTFORD -- The Massachusetts Health Connector for Business is hosting an overview on health insurance for small businesses in Massachusetts on Wednesday, Jan. 23. The event will take place at the Nashoba Valley Technical High School, located at 100 Littleton Road from 8:30 to 9:45 a.m.

The event is free for Nashoba Valley Chamber of Commerce members and $10 for nonmembers.

Hit the ice for charity

TYNGSBORO -- The 6th annual TeamWalk Winter Classic hockey game will be held on Jan. 1 to help raise money for the Lowell General Hospital TeamWalk for CancerCare.

The game is from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Skate3 Ice Arena, 355 Middlesex Road, Tyngsboro.

Players can sign up by paying a $35 registration fee. Anyone interested in playing can call Mike Kiernan at 978-277-8113.

The event is free for spectators, who can still take part in several raffles.
