The Longmont Columbine Lions Club is looking for middle school artists with hearts for kindness. The club is putting out a call for entries for the annual Lions Clubs International Peace Poster Contest.

“Kindness Matters” is the theme for the contest, which is open to students who will be 11, 12, or 13 years old on Nov. 15.

Prizes for the Columbine Lions Club competition are $150 for the winner, with second place receiving $100 and third place receiving $75. The winning poster will advance to the Colorado Lions District competition, with the district winner advancing to the state competition and the state winner advancing to the international competition. The international competition will feature 350,000 entries from young artists across the globe, and a grand prize of $5,000 and a trip to an award ceremony in New York City. Twenty-three merit award winners at the international level will each receive $500.

The deadline to submit a poster to Columbine Lions Club is Thursday. For more information and an application, call Gail at 303-485-0449.
