Fort Bend ISD investigating alleged student attack at Elkins High School

Officials at Fort Bend Independent School District are investigating after a female student was allegedly attacked by another student during class at Elkins High School on Tuesday, Jan. 8.

A video of the incident circulated by students and concerned parents later appeared on social media. No charges have been filed in connection with the alleged assault. But, the incident remains under investigation.

In the video, two female students were filmed in class engaged in a fight. It is unclear what precipitated the altercation and the video ends before officials arrive to address the situation.

However, Fort Bend ISD district officials released the following statement on Friday:

“The incident occurred on Tuesday in a classroom at Elkins High School, and the exact circumstances are still under investigation. Student safety is always the top priority, and staff members present responded to intervene and contact the administration for additional assistance, including the campus police officer.

“Parents of the students involved were also contacted following the incident, and the campus administration immediately began an investigation to ensure that all appropriate actions are taken in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct, which is our protocol for any incident such as this.

“We are aware of video that has circulated regarding this incident. We encourage all students to be respectful of other students at all times, and this extends to their interactions on social media.”
