February trial set for Davenport man accused in wife’s death
DAVENPORT, Iowa (AP) — A February trial has been scheduled for a Davenport man accused of killing his wife.
Scott County District Court records say Casey Klemme, 38, has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder and to domestic abuse assault, strangulation causing injury. His trial is tentatively set to begin Feb. 24.
Officers were to the Davenport residence July 26 to check a report about domestic abuse. They found Tiffany Klemme lying on a floor, bruising on her left eye, a bloody nose and other injuries. Her husband acknowledged only grabbing and pushing her, police said.
The 39-year-old woman declined medical attention, authorities said. She was found dead in the home the next day.
An autopsy determined she died of blunt force injuries to the head and had suffered neck injuries consistent with being choked.
