New Ulm girls top Luverne
NEW ULM - For the second straight game, Ali Beltz scored all of the New Ulm goals.
And for the second straight game, Eagles’ goalie Karlie Ries recorded a shutout.
Beltz netted two goals and Ries stopped all 15 Luverne shots as the Eagles topped Luverne 2-0 Tuesday night in a Big South Conference girl’s hockey game at the New Ulm Civic Center.
Lauren Klein and Molly Scheid added assists.
“We saw a lot of good things,” Eagles coach Kristen Faber said. ’We saw a good pace out of the girls and we put a lot of shots on goal.”
New Ulm had 55 shots on Luverne goalie Emilie Bartels. In their last two games, the Eagles have put more than 100 shots on goal.
Beltz got New Ulm on the board at the 6:05 mark of the first period on a wrap-around goal before adding her second goal on a backhander at the 13:46 mark of the second period.
“Ali is putting the puck on goal and we are putting shots on goal,” Faber said. “But we have to find someone else to score whether it is a garbage goal or dirty goal.”
