Florence County Detention Center inmate dies
EFFINGHAM, S.C. -- An inmate at the Florence County Detention Center was pronounced dead Thursday morning.
Deputies working the detention center found the inmate unresponsive at 2:40 a.m. Thursday and called medics with Florence County EMS, according to a release issued by the Florence County Sheriff’s Office.
The inmate was transported to a Florence area hospital and pronounced dead, according to the release.
SLED has been called in to investigate, according to the release.
Florence County Coroner Keith von Lutcken hasn’t yet released the identity of the inmate pending notification of their next of kin.
