Shape of Water to be shown at Bengal Theater
POCATELLO - Best Picture Oscar winner, “The Shape of Water” will be shown this Sunday, March 25, at 2, 4:30, and 7 p.m. in the Bengal Theater at the ISU Pond Student Union.
“The Shape of Water” is described as “A fairy tale for troubled times,” set against the backdrop of Cold War era America, where the fear of the Soviets abound and a race for supremacy is underway. In a hidden high-security government laboratory “the package” has been delivered, a captive amphibian creature who has been worshiped as a god in South America. But now the task is to control, experiment upon, and sometimes torture the creature into submission at the hands of a cruel agent who sees the world in us vs. them, black and white terms. But things change when a lonely custodial worker discovers the creature and decides, along with friends, to try and free him.
Sally Hawkins was nominated for Best Actress for her role, and Guillermo del Toro won the Oscar for Best Director, as the film was nominated for 13 Oscars overall.
