Cross country: Pearland’s Tyler wins 23-6A title

Alphonso Tyler of Pearland won the District 23-6A cross country title, sprinting to a 15:56.88 time to edge Joshua Triesch of George Ranch by almost nine seconds.

Other top finishers for Pearland included Michael Clark, who was sixth in 16:24.56; Jalen Green, 14th in 17:22.54; Micah Pernetter 19th in 17:35.67 and Cameron Devereaux, 25th in 17:53.92.

Dawson’s top finisher was Justice Artisst in 9th in 16:37.93. Other Dawson finishers included Andrew Murray, 11th in 16:51.71; Kyle Stacks, 20th in 17:36.70; Brandyn Hamann, 26th in 17:58.17; and Cris Delagarza, 27th in 18:00.61.

In the girls’ division, Dawson’s Darby Gauntt finished second in 18:23.94, which was nine seconds behind winner Theresa McComiskey of George Ranch.

Other Dawson finishers included Arlette Concepcion, 4th in 19:31.31; Michelle Mayer, 10th in 19:51.37; Abbie Garza, 13th in 20:08.86; London Powell, 14th in 20:27.40; and Lilly Powers, 16th in 20:38.12.

Pearland’s top female finisher was Kara Decker, who was fifth in 19:32.34. Other Lady Oiler finishers included Rachel Clark, 24th in 21:07.23; Kelli Tyler, 25th in 21:41.02; Mikaele Cantu, 27th in 22:04.69; and Alex Kubicek, 33rd in 22:55.18.
