Idaho Virtual Academy Invites Students to Enroll for 2019-2020 School Year

March 21, 2019 GMT

MERIDIAN, Idaho--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Mar 21, 2019--Idaho Virtual Academy (IDVA), an accredited online public charter school, welcomes families to enroll for the 2019-2020 school year. IDVA provides students in kindergarten through 12th grade with an opportunity to get a tuition-free public school education at home – or anywhere with an internet connection.

“After more than 15 years as a trusted education partner in Idaho, our priority continues to be providing our students with a personalized learning experience,” said Kelly Edginton, IDVA’s Head of School. “Our online learning platform sets students up for academic and personal success, and offers a learning environment that meets their unique needs.”

Students choose online school for a variety of reasons, including advanced learning, special needs, the safety of a bullying-free environment and a schedule that supports academics while balancing extracurricular pursuits or medical needs.

IDVA’s state-licensed teachers facilitate live, interactive online classes. Students are offered a full course load in the core subjects of English/language arts, math, science, history, art and music. Advanced Placement® courses are available in high school, and eligible students 16 years or older can take college-level courses through local higher education institutions, to earn both high school and college credits.

A variety of resources are available to help IDVA families navigate the online learning experience. Teachers communicate regularly with families via phone and email in order to ensure they are supported and that students are appropriately challenged.

Parents can access their middle school and high school students’ grades, homework, and class assignments using the K12 mobile app. The app serves as a connection point for families and school staff, as parents are able to contact teachers or school administrators with just the touch of a button on their mobile devices.

Students are invited to join virtual clubs and organizations and attend in-person social gatherings to foster a sense of community, build leadership skills and form friendships. The school has a student newspaper, a variety of clubs, and celebrates in-person graduation ceremonies across the state each spring.

Enrollment is now open for the upcoming school year. To learn more about IDVA and enrollment requirements, families are invited to attend online and in-person information sessions and events hosted statewide throughout the year. For more information and for a schedule of upcoming events, visit idva.k12.com, follow Idaho Virtual Academy on Facebook, or download the K12 mobile app for iOS and Android devices.
