UML Women End 23-game Road Losing Streak
JERSEY CITY, N.J. -- The UMass Lowell women’s basketball team erased an eight-point deficit in the fourth quarter and snapped its 23-game road losing streak with a 66-60 comeback win at Saint Peter’s on Thursday.
Kayla Gibbs, from nearby Teaneck, N.J., recorded her sixth straight double-double with 17 points and 14 rebounds, as she now sits 23 points away from the 1,000-point plateau. Brianna Rudolph chipped in 14, and Paula Lopez added 10, including an and-one to seal the victory.
Trailing 57-49 with 9:16 left in regulation, the River Hawks (3-6) chipped away until a Megan Hendrick jumper put them in front, 61-60.
, with one tick under three minutes showing on the clock. With the Peacocks (3-5) within three in the final seconds, Lopez intercepted a pass and converted the 3-point play for the 66-60 final.
UMass Lowell wraps up its four-game road swing with a tilt against Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday (2 p.m.).
