CCC’s Talley Earns NJCAA All-America Honors
Former Central Community College-Columbus men’s basketball player and recent Palm Beach Atlantic University recruit Latrell Talley has been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-America Third Team.
Talley missed the first game eight games of the season due to an injury but started 18 of the remaining 19 games for the Raiders in 2018-19.
“This is a great honor for Latrell,” said Central head coach Jerry Drymon. “He was an outstanding player and student for us. Latrell is a great ambassador for our program and has been a pleasure to coach. He came in with not much recruiting attention and worked hard to become the player he is today.”
Talley played in seven of the 10 games in which Central was victorious, scoring 238 points and grabbing 179 rebounds.
Talley was also named to the Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference All-Conference Team following the 2018-19 season, earning NJCAA National Player of the Week honors in December for recording a double-double in three games.
“Latrell is leaving CCC as a graduate and on a full scholarship to Palm Beach Atlantic University,” said Drymon. “That is what we hope happens for all of our athletes.”
Ruben Fuamba was the last Raider to be named an NJCAA All-America following the 2016-17 season.
Fuamba went on to play Division I basketball at Northern Arizona University for a season in 2017-18.
