Crunch Fitness rectifies lien

The state Department of Labor and Industry filed a lien against Crunch Fitness in the Marketplace at Steamtown earlier this week seeking nearly $45,000 in unpaid unemployment compensation taxes from January 2017 to March 2018.

In a written statement, the gym explained that all federal, state and local taxes were sent to the payroll contractor, which was responsible for making tax payments when due.

The gym provided The Times-Tribune with confirmation that the full lien amount, $44,933.89, was paid on Wednesday.

Crunch also fired the payroll company effective immediately, the statement said.
