Moreno not guilty in baseball bat slaying, dismemberment
A jury found Gabriel Moreno not guilty Wednesday of murder for the 2014 baseball bat slaying of Jose Luis Menchaca, whose body was dismembered and incinerated.
Jurors deliberated four hours Tuesday after prosecutors in their closing remarks called Moreno “pure evil.”

The six-man, six-woman jury deliberated two more hours Wednesday morning before announcing the verdict.
Menchaca was allegedly killed in retaliation for the stabbing of Moreno’s cousin, Daniel Moreno Lopez, 31. Lopez was convicted of murder in June and sentenced to life in prison.
