Police Investigating Apparent Stabbing Death Of Ashley Man
ASHLEY — Authorities are investigating the death of a borough man who was found unresponsive, apparently stabbed, in an Ashley home late Sunday morning.
Police identified the dead man as Brian Breymeier, 31. He was found unresponsive at 144 S. Main St. at about 11:50 a.m., police said in a news release.
Breymeier was taken by ambulance to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center in Plains Twp., where he was pronounced dead, according to Luzerne County District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis. He had an apparent stab wound, Salavantis said in a text message.
Salavantis described the case as a death investigation. She declined to call it a homicide case, pending an autopsy that she said would likely take place Monday.
State police, Ashley police, Luzerne County detectives and the county district attorney’s office are investigating.
No arrests had been made in the case as of Sunday evening.
Sugar Notch and Hanover Twp. police, Hanover Medic 9 and the Ashley Fire Department assisted at the scene.
