HEALTH CARE LAWSUITS-STATES

HELENA, Mont. _ Montana’s attorney general has joined his Ohio counterpart in opposing a Texas judge’s ruling to strike down the Affordable Care Act, as the Republicans go against the Trump administration’s position that the Obama-era health care law is unconstitutional. Montana Attorney General Tim Fox signed onto Monday’s court filing by Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost, who told The Associated Press last week of his plans to oppose U.S. District Judge Reed O’Connor’s December ruling. The case is now before the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, and President Donald Trump’s administration said last week it agrees with the ruling that would kill “Obamacare” if it is upheld. ELECTION 2020-MONTANA-HOUSE _ Democratic state Rep. Tom Winter of Missoula says he’s running for Montana’s lone U.S. House seat in 2020. The 32-year-old first-term legislator, who owns a business that provides in-home health care, is seeking the seat held by Republican U.S. Rep. Greg Gianforte.

PARAGLIDER INJURED _ A paraglider has been injured after crashing onto a mountain outside Missoula. Witnesses say the man in his 60s fell about 100 to 150 feet around 2 p.m. Monday into trees in a ravine on Mount Sentinel.

ACLU LAWSUIT-MONTANA _ Officials in Montana have asked a judge to toss out an American Civil Liberties Union lawsuit against them.

PEDESTRIAN FATAL-SENTENCE _ A Montana woman has received a deferred sentence and house arrest for killing a teacher with her car.
