Beverly Hills Garden Club, Lion’s Youth Club build new sensory trail
BARBOURSVILLE — Beverly Hills Garden Club (BHGC) received a $1,000 grant from The National Garden Clubs, Inc,.
The check was presented to the president, Janet Sheridan and members by Jimelle Bowen a BHGC member and project grant writer, for the 2017-19 Plant America Community Project Grant.
The National Garden Club awards funds to community and youth projects. The funds were used to help build a sensory gardens for the Barboursville Lion’s Club youth group, the Leo’s.
The youth club built a Braille, sensory and activity trail in Barboursville Park for the blind and visually impaired and for the community to enjoy.
Olivia Turman chaired the trail project for the Leo’s. Olivia presented the project idea to BHGC, who decided to assist them with the sensory garden and write the Plant America Community Project Grant to fund the project.
