HARARE, Zimbabwe (AP) _ Two Zimbabwe air force officers died when their twin-engine plane crashed during a training flight, the Defense Ministry said Friday.

A ministry spokesman, who by custom was not identified, said the plane crashed Thursday at Thornhill air base near Gweru, 172 miles southwest of Harare.

The air force officers were identified as flying instructor Tawanda Hove and junior pilot Joseph Nyandoro. They were engaged in landing maneuvers in a twin-engine Cessna training aircraft.

The Defense Ministry ordered an investigation into the crash, the spokesman said.
