Nyquist And Donnell Picked For Promotions And New Assignments
WASHINGTON (AP) _ President Reagan has nominated two Navy officers for promotions and new assignments, the Pentagon said Wednesday.
Rear Adm. John W. Nyquist, 54, a native of San Diego, has been tapped to gain his third star and become the Navy’s deputy chief for surface warfare, a promotion from assistant deputy chief.
Rear Adm. Joseph S. Donnell III has been selected to receive a third star and become commander of the Atlantic Fleet’s surface force. Donnell, 55, a native of Annapolis, Md., now works for the Joint Chiefs of Staff as vice director of the strategic plans and policy office.
Both nominations require Senate confirmation.
