The Mohave County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the canvass of last week’s primary election.
The Aug. 28 election included primary races for legislative seats representing the county; the winning candidates, Regina Cobb and Leo Biasiucci, will go on to face Democrat Mary McCord Robinson in the general election on Nov. 6. Other races last week included on the Board of Supervisors, won by Yucca resident Ron Gould, and Lake Havasu City’s mayoral and City Council races. Cal Sheehy won the mayor’s race, while Michele Lin, Jeni Coke and Jim Dolan were elected to the council.
In board Chairman Gary Watson’s absence from Thursday’s special meeting, Supervisors Hildy Angius chaired the meeting with Jean Bishop also in attendance. Supervisors Buster Johnson and Lois Wakimoto called in.
“I just want to thank Mr. (Allen) Tempert (the county’s elections director) for an election well done,” said Angius during the meeting. She went on to thank the volunteers who helped hand count the votes.
During the meeting, the board also unanimously approved a resolution directing the Mohave County Treasurer to collect taxes from people named in the tax roll for the 2018-2019 budget year.
