Willie Bernard “Baby Junior” Flynn, 73, of Kankakee, passed away Thursday (Sept. 27, 2018) at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, until the 11 a.m. funeral service at Jones Funeral Home in Kankakee. Pastor Montele A. Crawford will officiate. Interment will follow at Mound Grove Garden of Memory, Kankakee.
Willie was born May 28, 1945, in Kankakee, the son of Willie Mack and Lenzie Stewart Flynn.
He played football for the Kays and was a 1964 graduate from Kankakee High School.
Willie had been employed as a heavy equipment operator for the city of Kankakee Public Works Department and retired after 37 and a half years of service. He was a member of the Morning Star Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, shooting pool, music, dancing and barbequing.
Willie was married to the former Ethel Coats on Feb. 7, 2000, in Kankakee.
“Baby Jr.” is survived by his wife, of Kankakee; his daughter, Sharette Flynn, of Bastrop, La.; sisters, Jimmie Ruth Tanzie, of Kankakee, and Linda Martin, of Bradley; stepson, Cedric Coats, of Marenville, Pa.; his ex-wife, Iberia Flynn, of Bastrop, La.; nephews, Kevin and Keith (Veronica) Tanzie, all of Kankakee, and Terry Malone, of Bloomington; along with step-grandchildren and other relatives and friends, including special friends, Joe Parnell, the Rev. Cloyd Byrant and Ural Tanzie, all of Kankakee.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brother, Leon Flynn; and brothers-in-law, Ephiam Martin and Lloyd Tanzie.
