Body found in Clallam Bay area identified as Canadian man
PORT ANGELES, Wash. (AP) — The King County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a body recently found on a Clallam Bay-area shoreline as a 56-year-old Canadian kayaker.
James Sosik with the medical examiner’s office said Wednesday that the corpse’s remains matched the dental records of 56-year-old Lin Wang of Saanich, British Columbia.
The Peninsula Daily News reports a couple hiking the beach spotted Wang’s body on July 3.
Sosik says Wang died from an accidental drowning.
Wang was reported missing June 19, a day after he set off from East Sooke, British Columbia, 27 miles (43 kilometers) across the Strait of Juan de Fuca from Clallam Bay.
Chief Criminal Deputy Brian Smith said last week that Wang’s family identified him from photos of the body and the clothing he was wearing.
