Man struck by semi on Interstate 90 dies

AVON, Ohio — A man struck by a semi Thursday on Interstate 90 in Avon has died, police said. 

The semi struck the man about 2 p.m. on I-90 near the State Route 611 interchange, Avon police said.

He was taken to University Hospitals in Avon, where he later died, authorities said.

Investigators are withholding the man’s identity until relatives are reached. 

Police did not provide any additional information regarding the crash, including whether the driver of the semi faces any traffic citations or criminal charges. 

The incident closed the entire eastbound lanes of I-90 for about three hours. The highway reopened just after 5 p.m, police said. 

The State Highway Patrol will be conducting the investigation.
