Aiken, state commerce department hosting small business forum Tuesday
The City of Aiken and the S.C. Department of Commerce are coming together to host a small business forum on Tuesday.
“We’re cohosting it with them, and they’re basically going to be working with local businesses to familiarize them with resources,” the City’s community affairs and tourism manager, Tim O’Briant, said Monday.
Talks will be given by the S.C. Department of Commerce, the Small Business Administration, the S.C. transportation department, the Small Business Development Center, and Community Works.
“It’s going to be a one-by-one presentation from a number of agencies,” O’Briant said.
How to properly qualify for and pursue “business opportunities” with the state are topics that will be touched on, he added.
Accessing capital as well as other state and federal resources will also be discussed, according to the commerce department’s website.
O’Briant said Tuesday’s get-together is a “follow-on” to a previous small business meeting held this year.
“We really want to play a role in bringing the small business community together,” O’Briant said. “This is a great way to put everyone in the same room.”
The forum will be held at the Municipal Conference Center, 214 Park Ave. S.W. from 3:30-5 p.m.
