BUTTE, Mont. (AP) — Montana Tech has named a replacement for retiring chancellor Don Blackketter.

Officials at the Butte school said Friday that Michigan Technological University vice president for strategic university partnerships Les Cook will be Montana Tech’s 12th chancellor.

Cook has spent 16 years at his current school in Houghton, Michigan, where he has held several leadership positions. He said in a statement that he is humbled and thrilled by the new opportunity.

Cook has a doctorate in educational leadership from Brigham Young University, and master’s and bachelor’s degrees from Utah State University.
