Open house set for Cornet Bay Retreat Center
The community is invited to explore the Cornet Bay Retreat Center at Deception Pass State Park on March 16.
The open house will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. at 400 Cornet Bay Road to give visitors an inside look at the facility at the park, according to a news release.
Community members, businesses and event planners interested in renting out the facility or seeing what it has to offer can explore on their own, take a guided tour or participate in other activities.
The Cornet Bay Retreat Center is available for reservation year-round and has been open to the public for years.
Reservations can be made by calling 360-902-8600 or visiting the State Parks website.
“The park wanted to remind the public that it is there and show it off a little,” state parks spokeswoman Meryl Lipman said of hosting the open house between the launch of the new state reservation system and the start of summer.
The open house will include kids activities at 1:30 p.m., a guided hike at 3 p.m. and information booths hosted by groups including the Audubon Society and state Department of Transportation, according to the release.
“It’s not just about the open house but also an opportunity to let and help the visitors explore this part of the park,” Deception Pass Park Manager Jason Armstrong said, adding that new park staff will be in attendance to meet visitors. “This a great time for people to get introduced and learn about what the park has planned for 2019.”
