Driver allegedly distracted over frank discussion with girlfriend about intimacy faces DUI charge
A distracted driver ended up in jail for DUI after an incident in which the man had a frank discussion with his girlfriend about intimacy that led to a traffic accident.
According to information from the Lake Havasu City Police Department, Timothy Eugene Lewis, 53, was charged with two misdemeanor charges of DUI.
According to police, an officer responded to an accident scene on Querio Drive at about 8:47 p.m., Friday, where he saw a white SUV high-centered on the landscaping of a residence.
The officer said he spoke to a property owner who said she saw the accident from her residence. She said the driver veered to the right and into gravel rocks. She said he then tried to turn around and then crashed into a neighbor’s yard.
She said the female passenger got out and ran up the road and he got back into the vehicle.
When an officer spoke to Lewis, he allegedly said he was trying to turn around while he and his fiancé were arguing about matters of an intimate nature.
The officer also said Lewis told police that “there was a lot going on and he wanted to get something to eat.”
When a breath test was given to Lewis, it came back at .091 and he was arrested.
