DeKalb residential blaze damages 2 homes
DEKALB – No one was injured after a residential fire broke out Tuesday afternoon in DeKalb, damaging two homes.
DeKalb firefighters responded around 1:30 p.m. to the 100 block of Home Drive, just off East Lincoln Highway, for a reported garage fire.
Smoke could be seen from an attached garage, at 120 Home Drive, and crews were using hoses to extinguish the remaining embers. Crews continued to search for hidden fires and investigated the fire’s cause into the afternoon, DeKalb Fire Chief Eric Hicks said.
DeKalb police also responded to the scene.
Both that house and the house next door, 116 Home Drive, sustained heat damage, Hicks said. An estimate of the cost of the damage was not immediately available.
