DUESSELDORF, Germany (AP) _ T.J. Rubley tossed three touchdowns Sunday as the Rhein Fire’s offense finally came alive in a 28-6 WLAF win over the London Monarchs.

Rhein Fire (1-1) didn’t score a touchdown last week against Barcelona, but dominated the second half against the Monarchs (1-1) by compiling 292 yards on offense.

After a scoreless first half, Rubley hit Sean Foster for 50 yards early in the third quarter that brought his team down to the London 12-yard line.

Two plays later, he hooked up with Michael Pritlein for a 6-yard scoring pass in the left flat that gave Rhein Fire a 6-0 lead.

He also connected for scores of 25 yards to Green Bay Packers’ wide receiver Bill Schroeder in the third quarter and 3 yards to David Rhodes in the fourth.

The last score put Rhein Fire up 21-0, capping a 11-play drive that lasted 6:11. Derrick Clark proved to be the workhorse, carrying five times for 22 yards.

After a first half in which the defenses’ dominated, Rubley finished by completing 12-of-20 passes for 198 yards and one interception.

Both starter Preston Jones and replacement Stan White, allocated by the New York Giants, struggled at quarterback as the Monarchs compiled just 190 overall offensive yards.

White replaced Preston in the fourth quarter, putting the Monarchs’ on the scoreboard with a 37-pass to Allan Allen. British national Clive Allen then missed the PAT.

With 2:03 left to play, Ontiwaun Carter drove over from the 1-yard line to compete the scoring for the Rhein Fire.

The Rhein Fire drew 14,000, down from last year’s average attendance of 17,000.
