Car crashes into house; driver arrested for drunken driving, Madison police say

A Madison man who drove his car into the side of a garage on the city’s Southwest Side was arrested for drunken driving.

Andrew Nighbor, 45, was taken into custody after police found him a short distance away when he fled the scene on foot.

The crash happened at about 1:35 a.m. in the 6900 block of Carnwood Road. The home is a single-family residence with an attached garage.

Police said nobody was hurt inside the home, which was occupied by a family, including children.

Nighbor was cited for first offense OWI, reckless driving and hit and run.
