Slicers boys hoops blasts Hobart

La Porte’s boys basketball team thumped Hobart 56-28 on the road Saturday night. Garrott Ott-Large posted 15 points for the Slicers (2-3), and Drake Gunn had 13 points. Grant Ott-Large also reached double figures with 11 points. Caron Crass added 10 steals. La Porte led 11-5 after the first quarter and 23-11 at the break. The Slicers’ JV won 50-28. La Porte next travels to Lowell (4-3) Tuesday night.

Blazer girls rout Adams

Sophia Nolan’s 20 points led four Marquette girls basketball players in double figures in Saturday’s 67-33 romp over South Bend Adams at the Scholl Center. Emma Nolan added 13, Morgan Crook 12 with three 3s and Ally McConnell 10 for the Blazers (9-1), who have won nine in a row.


S.C. girls slay Dragons

Amber Wolf poured in 19 points to power balanced South Central to a 65-32 girls basketball victory over Argos on Saturday. Delanie Gale and Faith Biggs each chipped in 15 and Abby Tomblin picked up 10. Gale his three 3s.

City girls beat SB Riley

Behind a 28-point, 14-rebound, seven-block performance from Hannah Noveroske, the Wolves improved to 10-3 with a 56-40 victory over South Bend Riley on Saturday. De’Naya Hall got in on the act with nine points, while Katelyn Halfacre contributed with seven.

Marquette crushes Career Academy boys

Colin Kenney paced four Blazers in double figures scoring with 21 points as Marquette smacked South Bend Career Academy 86-61 in boys basketball Saturday at the Scholl Center. Jake Tarnow contributed a career-high 20 with Joe Andershock booking 18 and Vaunte Johnson 10.

Tigers top O-D boys

Hayden McDougal’s 20 points carried the LaCrosse boys basketball team to a 61-49 win over Oregon-Davis on Saturday. Jaye Mitzner and Kaleb Frazier each tossed in 10 apiece for the Tigers, who used a 42-point second half to wipe out a 25-19 deficit at the break.

LP boys swimmers lose to Blue Blazers

La Porte’s boys swim team fell 131-53 at Elkhart Central Saturday.

La Porte’s girls swim team dropped a 128-56 meet at Elkhart Central Saturday.

NP girls divers take third

New Prairie’s girls diving team took third in Saturday’s South Bend Washington Invite with 870.35 points. Savanah Keldsen led the Cougars in fourth place, followed by Allie Palmer (seventh), Emily Elm (15th), Samantha Clemons (17th) and Mary Ann Baum (19th). The NP boys took 10th with Nolan Szymanski finishing 10th (240 points).


Slicers sports schedule changes

The boys swim sectional originally scheduled at La Porte on Feb. 14 & 16 will now be at Chesterton High School. The Slicers JV & varsity boys basketball home games versus Goshen on Feb. 16 will now be played on Feb. 12 at 5 p.m. at Slicer Gym. La Porte will be one of the northern hosts for the girls basketball semistate on Feb. 16.

Cougars-Slicers boys hoops postponed to Saturday

The New Prairie at La Porte JV & varsity boys basketball games originally scheduled for Dec. 1 will now be played this coming Saturday at 5 p.m. at Slicer Gym.

PNW hosting baseball camp

Purdue University Northwest is hosting a four-week baseball camp at its Westville campus starting Jan. 13. Assistant coach Shane Prance will direct the program in conjunction with the U.S. Baseball Academy. Classes are available for players in grades 1-12 and are limited to seven players per coach. Sessions are offered in advanced hitting, pitching, catching, fielding and base running. Space is limited. Registration is underway. Falcons girls hoops drops decision

John Glenn’s girls basketball team fell 53-37 to Mishawaka Marian in Walkerton Friday night. Bethany Hayden led all scorers with 22 points for the Falcons (7-7, 4-4 Northern Indiana Conference). Glenn scored just four points in the first quarter and trailed 26-11 at the break. The Knights improved to 12-1, 6-1 in the NIC.

Glenn boys hoops loses close contest

John Glenn’s boys basketball team fell 50-45 to visiting LaVille Saturday night. Carter Yung paced the Falcons (4-4) with 18 points, and Rob Porter followed with 11 points. Glenn trailed 15-12 at half and got outscored 25-23 in the fourth quarter.

City girls reschedule games against Lighthouse

Michigan City’s girls basketball home games against Lighthouse CPA have been rescheduled for Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. (JV) and 7, respectively.
