Beaumont police supplier appeals state ban
A Beaumont police equipment dealer recently banned from doing business with state agencies and federal grant funds has appealed the Texas comptroller’s decision.
State officials placed a five-year ban on Texas Code Blue, a Beaumont equipment dealership whose president was recorded earlier this year processing a “fraudulent transaction” at the Silsbee police chief’s request, according to the Homeland Security Grants Division.
Jette Withers, director of the comptroller’s Statewide Procurement Division, wrote in an Oct. 6 letter to Texas Code Blue that the business was “debarred” from “participating in contracts with any agency of the State of Texas for five years.”
Code Blue had until Wednesday, 10 days after being notified, to appeal the determination.
The appeal will be considered by Mike Reissig, the state’s deputy comptroller of public accounts.
