Pardeeville man accused of 2nd-degree sexual assault
A 51-year-old Pardeeville man could face up to 40 years in prison after being charged with second-degree sexual assault of a woman.
Todd James Ludwig made his initial appearance Nov. 30 in Columbia County Circuit Court for the felony charge, as well as for misdemeanors of battery and disorderly conduct stemming from the same incident.
According to the criminal complaint, Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies and a sergeant conducted a welfare check Nov. 26 at a residence in the village of Pardeeville. Ludwig was consuming alcohol when they arrived. One of two victims at the residence stated Ludwig had sexually assaulted her in the bathroom early in the morning of Nov. 25. After the assault, she heard a commotion in the residence but did not see what happened. Ludwig then left to go hunting.
The second victim stated he believed Ludwig was very intoxicated in the early morning of Nov. 25 because he had found Ludwig passed out on the living room floor. Later in the morning, this second victim heard yelling and screaming from the bathroom. After this, he hit Ludwig with the palm of his hand and Ludwig then hit the second victim with a closed fist. The officers reported Ludwig had a slight bruise under his eye and the second victim had a black-and-blue eye.
Ludwig has a pretrial conference set for Jan. 18.
