Arizona man arrested after stolen car crashes into home
PRESCOTT, Ariz. (AP) — Arizona officials say they have arrested a 26-year-old man on suspicion of stealing his stepfather’s car, driving while drunk and crashing the vehicle into a home.
Yavapai County Sheriff’s spokesman Dwight D’Evelyn said Tuesday the theft occurred Monday night.
Deputies arrested Wayne Area Jr. after the car crashed completely into the living room of a house. A 65-year-old woman who was sitting on the couch was left with apparent broken ribs and was taken to a hospital. Her husband was out of town when the accident occurred, but he has since returned.
D’Evelyn says the house was significantly damaged, with one side wall demolished.
Area has been treated at a hospital, but has no serious injuries.
