CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) — A now former University of Virginia student has pleaded guilty to attacking his ex-girlfriend during a notorious neighborhood block party.

The Daily Progress reports 20-year-old Cayden J. Dalton pleaded guilty to felony abduction and felony unlawful wounding charges on Friday in connection with the August 2018 Wertland Block Party.

Prosecutor Areshini Pather said the victim drove Dalton home after he showed up drunk at her house. Dalton stopped her from leaving his room and accused her of cheating. After she threw water in his face, he choked her from behind, jammed his hand into her mouth and repeatedly banged her head on the floor.

Pather said Dalton told police he wished she’d died.

Dalton’s attorney Rhonda Quagliana said the plea agreement showed he was taking responsibility. His sentencing is set for May 2.
