P.M. township to hear audit, budget amendment

May 14, 2019 GMT

The Pere Marquette Charter Township Board of Trustees will hear a presentation from public accountant Douglas Wohlberg about the municipality’s 2018 audit during its meeting Tuesday evening.

The board will also consider approving a budget amendment. In the proposed amendment, $20,000 would be transferred from the township’s contingency fund to its township hall, properties and equipment fund.

The $20,000 would pay for the purchase of a vehicle to be shared by township staff members. At its April 9 meeting, the board approved buying the vehicle for a total price of $19,900, according to the meeting minutes. The vehicle is a 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek with 12,000 miles on its odometer.

Another item on the agenda is to consider approving a permit for the public display of fireworks at the Western Michigan Fair. The fireworks would launch at approximately 10 p.m. at the Mason County Fairgrounds on Tuesday, Aug. 6 — or on Friday, Aug. 9 in case of a rain delay. The pyrotechnics would be provided by the West Branch-based company Great Lakes Fireworks LLC. The show would include approximately 196 firework shells and cakes. The board will also consider approving a job description for the township’s utilities and public works operators, which would be used in the hiring process. The board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Pere Marquette Township Hall, 1699 S. Pere Marquette Highway.
