Bangura Won’t Play for St. John’s
NEW YORK (AP) _ St. John’s junior Alpha Bangura is still on the basketball team, but he won’t play or practice with the Red Storm for the rest of the season.
The 6-foot-4 forward, who last played Jan. 29 at Seton Hall, will remain on scholarship and meet with coach Mike Jarvis at the end of the season.
``I made my decision after meeting with Alpha on Monday,″ Jarvis said in a statement on Tuesday. ``It was based on the time of year and circumstances involving Alpha’s separation from the team these past few weeks.″
Bangura averaged 5.6 points and 2.2 rebounds in 20 games, five starts, this season.
