Guilty plea in quadruple murder

Matthew LeBlancMay 23, 2019

A Fort Wayne man pleaded guilty today to killing four people : one, his unborn child : and injuring another in 2016.    Marcus Dansby, 23, had faced the death penalty in the Sept. 11, 2016, slayings of Traeven Harris, 18, Consuela Arrington, 37, Dajahiona Arrington, 18, and the near-term fetus she was carrying. A fourth person, Trinity Hairston, was shot and stabbed but survived.    A monthlong trial was scheduled to begin Oct. 1, but Dansby pleaded guilty this morning to guilty but mentally ill on four counts of murder, one count of attempted murder and a sentencing enhancement for using a gun to commit the crimes.    A plea agreement calls for the sentences to be served back-to-back, and he faces up to 320 years in prison when he is sentenced in July.    Prosecutors agreed to dismiss the death penalty and will not seek life without parole.    mleblanc@jg.net
