Western Indiana officer shoots driver after pinned to car
CLINTON, Ind. (AP) — Indiana State Police are investigating an officer-involving shooting in western Indiana of a suspected drunken driver who allegedly used his truck to pin the officer against the officer’s patrol car.
They say Clinton City Police Chief Billy MacLaren requested the state police investigation after the incident Saturday night. They say the officer had stopped his car with emergency lights activated when the suspect’s truck continued traveling toward him.
Police say the officer, after being pinned against his vehicle, shot the suspect. The suspect was transported to an Indianapolis hospital. The officer was treated and released at a local hospital.
Neither the officer’s nor the suspect’s name has been released.
Clinton is about 70 miles west of Indianapolis.
