3 Michigan state parks offer volunteer work days in December
LANSING, Mich. (AP) — Several state parks in southern Michigan will host volunteer stewardship work days in December.
Officials say volunteers are needed to cut invasive, non-native shrubs such as glossy buckthorn, autumn olive, multi-flora rose and others.
The Department of Natural Resources says participants can enjoy the outdoors while learning about high-quality, unique ecosystems.
Work days are scheduled Saturday and Dec. 8 at Warren Dunes State Park in Berrien County; Saturday at Highland Recreation Area in Oakland County; and Dec. 15 at Fort Custer Recreation Area in Kalamazoo County.
