Pete Buttigieg coming to Fox News, will be the third Dem town hall on network

April 23, 2019 GMT

Presidential candidate Mayor Pete Buttigieg was announced Tuesday as the third Democratic hopeful to hold a Fox News Channeltown hall.

The Indiana Democrat will appear on Fox News May 19th in an appearance to be moderated moderated by Chris Wallace and filmed in Claremont, N.H.

“We look forward to hosting Mayor Buttigieg in New Hampshire and again showcasing our first-in-class journalism and election coverage,“Jay Wallace, President and Executive Editor of Fox News and Fox Business Network, said in a statement.

Mr. Buttigieg is one of the almost 20 Democrats currently vying to be the nominee to challenge President Trump in the 2020 election.

Fox News announced Wednesday fellow candidate Sen. Amy Klobuchar would hold a town hall on May 8. Her appearance follows the well received town hall last Monday featuring Sen. Bernard Sanders.

Mr. Sanders’ town hall was the most-watched event of the 2020 presidential election so far (though ratings for CNN’s series of town halls Monday have yet to be released,) raking in nearly 2.6 million views.

Mr. Sanders’ town hall came a month after Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez rejected Fox News from hosting any of the party’s primary debates. He said the network’s “inappropriate relationship” with Mr. Trump prevented Fox News from providing a “fair and neutral debate for our candidates.”
