3 storm systems moving into Pacific Northwest this week

October 16, 2017

SEATTLE (AP) — The National Weather Service says the Pacific Northwest should prepare for wind, rain, flooding and snow this week.

A series of three storm systems will pass though the region starting Tuesday and last through the weekend.

The greater Puget Sound area, from Everett down to Tacoma, could see high winds starting Tuesday. Gusts on the coast could hit 35 miles (56 kilometers) per hour.

The weather service advises people to trim trees to avoid falling branches that could cause power outages.

Snow may begin on the passes by Tuesday afternoon. A few inches of snow could fall above 4,000 feet in the North Cascades starting Wednesday and create travel problems.

The weekend should see another storm that could cause flooding.

Officials say cleaning fallen leaves out of storm drains will help prevent some flooding.
