Hits of Motown era on stage in Zumbrota
ZUMBROTA — The biggest hits of the Motown era of pop music will be performed when “Oh What a Night” is presented at 8 p.m. May 5 at the State Theatre in Zumbrota.
A lineup of Twin Cities singers — Wee Willie Walker, Ronn Easton, Maurice Jacox, Jerry Eskridge and Maurice Young — will sing the songs of the Temptations, Sam Cooke, the Chi-Lites, the Spinners and other artists of the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.
Cooke’s biggest hits were “You Send Me” and “Twistin’ the Night Away.” The Temptations, of course, were Motown royalty, with “My Girl” and “I Can’t Get Next to You.” The Chi-Lites ruled the airwaves in the early ’70s with “Have You Seen Her” and “Oh Girl.”
In other words, it will be a hit-laden evening.
Tickets are $30 in advance, $34 at the door, available through Crossings at Carnegie, 507-732-7616.
