Gas leak secured in Seattle neighborhood, 3 workers injured
SEATTLE (AP) — A natural gas leak that caused a north Seattle neighborhood to be evacuated and injured three utility workers has been secured.
KOMO reports that police and firefighters responded to the scene about 10:30 a.m.
The Seattle Fire Department said two Puget Sound Energy workers were injured while they tried to secure the gas line. They were transported to a hospital in stable condition. At 12:23 p.m. the fire department tweeted that Puget Sound Energy had secured the leak and that one additional utility worker was taken to a hospital in stable condition.
The fire department said it was conducting air monitoring in the area.
Fire officials say those evacuated from all the buildings affected by the leak would be allowed to return when it has been deemed safe.
