NYC and Philly again set weather records
TRENTON, New Jersey (AP) — Philadelphia, New York and Newark, New Jersey, are among the major Northeast U.S. cities that continue to break temperature records during a brief December heat wave.
The National Weather Service said New York hit 71 degrees Fahrenheit (21.5 Celsius) on Sunday. That tops the previous mark of 63 degrees F (17 degrees C) set in 1998.
Newark reached 71 degrees F (21.5 degrees C) and bested the previous high of 65 degrees F (18.5 C) set in 1998.
Philadelphia reached 67 F (19.5 C), breaking the record of 64 F (18 C) set in 1998.
Several major Northeast cities also broke records on Saturday, when the temperatures reached into the high 60s F (upper teens C).
