Devils Recall Morrison From AHL

April 2, 1998 GMT

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) _ Less than 24 hours after scoring five goals in an AHL game, center Brendan Morrison was recalled by the New Jersey Devils Thursday.

The move comes less than a day after the Devils lost consecutive games for only the fourth time this season. New Jersey was beaten 4-0 by Carolina Wednesday night and 3-1 by Dallas Sunday.

Morrison came within a goal of tying the AHL single-game record Wednesday in the Albany River Rats’ 5-2 win over Hartford. He had 35 goals and 49 assists in 72 games at Albany.
