Bluefish pummel Revolution
YORK, Pa. — The Bridgeport Bluefish scored four runs each in the first and fifth innings on their way to a 9-3 road win over the York Revolution Sunday at PeoplesBank Park.
Luis Hernandez led off the top of the first with a double and, two outs later, scored on Jose Cuevas’ RBI single. After Jonathan Galvez walked, Josh Vitters hit an RBI single for a 2-0 lead. Anthony Giansanti then made it 4-0 with a two-run double.
The Revolution answered in the bottom of the first with three runs, highlighted by an RBI single from Joel Guzman and a sacrifice fly by Michael Burgess.
It stayed 4-3 until the top of the fifth, when the Bluefish bats got going again. Adron Chambers started the inning with a walk and scored on Welington Dotel’s home run for a 6-3 lead. Two outs later, Vitters singled, moved to second as Giansanti was hit by a pitch and both runners would score on Rossmel Perez’s single.
The Bluefish added a run in the ninth as Galvez doubled, moved to third on a passed ball and scored on another RBI single by Vitters.
Jonathan Albaladejo went five inning for the win, allowing three earned runs on seven hits, while striking out five and walking four.
David Anderson, Paul Demny, Brian Moran and Taylor Thompson each pitched a scoreless inning of relief to finish the game for the Bluefish.
The Bluefish begin a seven-game homestand Monday night at 7:12 as the Lancaster Barnstormers come to the Ballpark at Harbor Yard.
