CFP-OKLAHOMA-MURRAY

Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray ill, misses media session

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Oklahoma quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray has missed his scheduled media availability at the Orange Bowl on Wednesday because of what the team says is an illness.

Murray was able to go through practice with the Sooners on Tuesday, and the nature of his illness was not disclosed.

However, there doesn’t seem to be much concern about him missing time. Offensive coordinator Cale Gundy said he was unaware that Murray was ill until he got into the caravan that carried the Sooners from their hotel to the media session on Wednesday morning.

Murray completed 71 percent of his passes this season for 4,053 yards and 40 touchdowns. The fourth-ranked Sooners take on No. 1 Alabama in a College Football Playoff semifinal matchup on Saturday night.

MOLINARI SIGHTINGS COULD BE SCARCE IN EUROPE

Golfer follows lure of US tour

LONDON (AP) — The European golf world will likely see less of Francesco Molinari this season.

The 19th-ranked player in the world says he may not play in Europe until he defends his British Open title in July.

The lure of the US PGA Tour and changes made to the European Tour calendar will combine to leave the London-based golfer short of available dates to compete on his home circuit next year.

Molinari is even struggling to commit to the British Masters in May, despite receiving an invitation from tournament host, close friend and Ryder Cup partner Tommy Fleetwood.

Molinari said he’s learned to ”(be a bit flexible with the schedule playing two tours.”

GOING TO DISNE WORLD

Avid football fan battling cancer gets trip to Disney World

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — An avid Buffalo Bills fan from Texas who’s battling cancer has been given a trip to Disney World thanks to the efforts of a fan club known as the Bills Mafia.

Ezra Castro is known as Pancho Billa for his game-day outfit that includes a sombrero and facemask in the NFL team’s red, white and blue colors.

The 39-year-old mortician from Dallas has attended numerous Bills games on the road and at New Era Field in Orchard Park, earning him the honor of being named the inaugural member of the Buffalo Fan Wall of Fame.

Last Sunday while watching the Bills-Patriots game at a Dallas-area bar with other Buffalo fans, the Bills Mafia surprised him with an all-expenses-paid trip to Disney World in Florida for him, his girlfriend and their two young children.
