CAPstone Super Hero Run early registration ends Thursday
You may not be able to leap tall buildings in a single bound, or you may not fight for truth and justice every day, but you can be a super hero for CAPstone Child Advocacy Center and the child abuse victims in the community by signing up for the ninth annual Super Hero race.
The race will be Saturday, June 2, from 8 a.m. to noon, at the Gering Junior High School. Early registration for CAPstone’s ninth annual Super Hero Race is due Thursday, May 24.
The 5K run/walk registration fee $25 and Kid 1K Fun Run registration fee is $15. The team fee includes 5 participants and is $100. The family fee includes two adults and two children and the fee is $75. After Thursday, May 24, the price of each category will raise by $5.
The event helps raise awareness of child abuse/neglect in the community. The Super Hero Race is one of CAPstone’s major fundraisers and helps to support the programs that CAPstone provides to victims of child abuse and their family members. CAPstone provides a safe, child-friendly environment where children can be heard and supported.
In 2017, CAPstone provided forensic interviews and drug hair testing services to 566 children in the community. CAPstone is accredited through the National Children’s Alliance and provide services in the 11 counties of the Panhandle.
On the day of the event, registration and check in begins at 8 a.m. The Kids 1K Fun Run will begin at 9 a.m. The 5K walk/run will begin immediately following the Kids 1K Fun Run at 9:30 a.m.
Registration and start of the races will be at the Gering Junior High in the grassy area in front of the school. In the event of inclement weather registration will be at CAPstone at 900 P St., Gering.
There will be a costume contest after the race. Prizes and medals will be awarded and raffle tickets will be available for a chance to win some amazing items.
